Congratulations to our
2019 Youth of the Year, Taiana!

About Youth of the Year

Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Youth of the Year recognition is the highest honor a Club member can achieve. The program celebrates youth who have overcome enormous odds and demonstrated exceptional character and accomplishments. Honorees are recognized for service to their Club and community, academic performance and contributions to their family. Whether or not a Club member actually goes on to become Youth of the Year, the time and effort invested in the development of each individual helps these young people become all they are capable of being. That is what makes the Youth of the Year program an effective year-round development program for all members. Thank you to our Youth of the Year Mentors

This year, each Youth of the Year contestant was paired with a mentor to help them prepare for the competition. Mentors are local business professionals and community members who are volunteering their time to assist with brainstorming, essay and speech writing, presentation skills and serve as a general life mentor for our candidates. Thank you mentors for your dedication to preparing these teens for Great Futures!

Thank you to our Youth of the Year Judges

Judges of our event were business professionals and community members from throughout Lake County. Each judge reviewed the candidates’ essays, recommendation letters and watched their speeches. We had five great candidates which made it a tough decision for our judges!

Congratulations to our
2019 Junior Youth of the Year, Ava!
